Go Offline. Be with your Favorites.

In the Apple TV+ show WeCrashed, there's a conversation between Adam Neumann and Elishia Kennedy. Adam asks Elishia, “Are you lonely?” She responds, “Everyone's lonely.”

That got me into a tailspin of thoughts — of how the modern world is connected more than ever, and yet the majority of people suffer through loneliness.

With the plethora of dating and activity apps out there, there are always options to connect, but loneliness pervades nevertheless.

That got me thinking of the reasons why the modern, tech-connected generation is lonelier than ever:

1. 01Increased dependency on technology — less and less desire to step out, or to make the effort to talk to someone.
2. 02Technology consuming more of our senses — less time, and less inclination, to indulge in the real world.
3. 03Ever more aware of, and influenced by, social media and visual content — heightened anxiety about approaching new people, being perfectly turned out, or having the perfect lines.

The world can appear a lot more unforgiving for a lot of us. The dissection of the psychology of all of this — as individuals and as a mass — is better left to the experts.

My mind went to a solution to some of these issues: something that gets people to meet other people, to go offline, doing real things — and takes the edge off reaching out in a busier, maybe colder, world.

The wish — you want something that makes it easier to ask someone out, or to plan something with friends — minus the anxiety, minus “who's free,” “do they even want to,” “what would they think,” or whatever else stops the move. You want something that tells you who actually wants to go out with you.

And that something is GORB.World.
